Vocabulary Words Feb. 12-23

TermDefinition
Text Structure the way in which a text is organized, such as by sequence, cause and effect, or comparing and contrasting
Sequential structure Text organization in which ideas and concepts are presented in the order in which they happen
General-to- specific structure a type of text organization that begins with a general statement and then uses specific examples to support the statement
Part-to-whole structure a text organization in which facts and details lead to one main idea or concept
Spatial structure text organization in which things are described according to their location- such as a description
Circle graph a circular chart divided into sections that shows the parts of a whole
Model a picture or object that represents a much larger, real-life object
Diagram a drawing with labels that shows the parts of an object or how something works
Flowchart a graphic organizer that uses arrows or connecting lines to show the order of something
Table a graphic representation that uses columns and rows to organize information
