WIND Is the movement of air parallel to earth's surface
ANEMOMETER Thing that can measure wind speed
WINDCHILL FACTOR The increased cooling that a wind can cause
LOCAL WINDS Winds that blow over short distances
GLOBAL WINDS Winds that blow steadily from specific directions over long distances
CORIOLIS EFFECT The way earth's rotation makes winds curve
LATITUDE Is the distance from the equator measured in degrees
TEMPERATURE Is the average amount of energy of motion of each particle of a substance
THERMAL ENERGY Measures the total energy of motion in the particles of a substance
THERMOMETER Device that measures temperature
HEAT Thermal energy that is transferred from a hotter object to a cooler one
CONVECTION The transfer of heat by movement of a fluid
CONDUCTION The transfer of heat between two substances that are in direct contact
CONVECTION CURRENTS The upward movement of warm air and the downward movement of cool air
GREENHOUSE EFFECT Gases that hold in heat
SCATTERING Dust particles and gases disperse light in all different directions
