weather and climate

TermDefinition
air pressure The force exerted on a surface by the weight of the air.
climate The generally occurring weather conditions of a region, such as temperature, air pressure, humidity, precipitation, sunshine, cloudiness, and winds, throughout the year, averaged over a series of years.
humidity The percent of water vapor is in the air.
jet streams Winds concentrated in a narrow and shallow stream in the atmosphere.
ocean currents A continuous, directed movement of seawater generated by forces acting upon this mean flow, such as breaking waves, wind, the Coriolis effect, cabbeling, temperature and salinity differences.
temperature A degree of hotness or coldness the can be measured using a thermometer.
weather The state of the atmosphere at a particular time and place.
