fossil fuel nonrenewable energy resource formed over geologic time fro the compression and partial decomposition of organisms that lived millions of years ago.
fuel material, such as wood, peat, or coal, burned to provide power or heat
peat light, spongy, organic fossil fuel derived from moss and other bog plants
biogas a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide produced by bacterial degradation of organic matter and used as a fuel
gasohol a mixture of gasoline and ethanol and can be used in conventional gasoline engines
geothermal energy energy produced from Earth's own internal steam and hot water
photovoltaic cell a cell that converts solar energy into electrical energy
cogeneration production of two usable forms of energy at the same time from the same process, which can conserve resources and generate income
energy efficiency a type of conservation in which energy resources are used in the most productive ways
sustainable energy involves global management of Earth's natural resources to ensure that current and future energy needs will be met without harming the environment
