| Case Study | An in-depth study of individual(s) or situation(s) |
| Grounded Theory | Research that leads to emergence of new understanding, concepts, or theories |
| Ethnography | The systematic study of people and cultures used to understand behavior |
| Phenomenology | Studying the response of families to trauma affecting one of the children |
| Case Study | An in-depth review of patient(s) who develop decubitus ulcers |
| Grounded Theory | The use of qualitative data to develop a new understanding of why patients in restraints become more combative |
| Ethnography | Research used to understand why teen patients refuse to turn off their cell phones during clinic visits |
