The Organ Systems-Functions

Integumentary -barrier to pathogens/ chemicals -prevents excessive water loss
Skeletal -supports body -protects internal organs/ red bone marrow -provides framework to be moved by muscles
Muscular -moves the skeleton -produces
Nervous -interprets sensory info-->decides how to use it -regulates body functions such as movement by means of electrochemical impulses
Endocrine -regulates body functions-->growth/ reproduction by means of hormones -regulates day-to-day metabolism by means of hormones
Circulatory -transports oxygen/ nutrients to tissues and removes waste products
Lymphatic -returns tissue fluid to the blood -destroys pathogens that enter the body and provides immunity
Respiratory -exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide between air/ blood
Digestive -changes food into simple chemicals that can be absorbed and used by the body
Urinary -removes waste products from the blood -regulates volume and pH of blood/ tissue fluid
Reproductive -produces eggs/ sperm -provides site for developing embryo-fetus in women
