Plant Structure

Root cap It protects the root from injury.
Cambium It divides to produce new xylem and phloem in a woody stem.
Stoma A small opening on the underside of a leaf through which oxygen, water, and carbon dioxide can move.
Transpiration The process by which water evaporates from a plant's leaves.
Embryo The young plant that develops from the zygote.
Germination The sprouting of the embryo out of a seed.
Flower The reproductive structure of an angiosperm.
Pollination The transfer of pollen from male reproductive structures to female reproductive structures.
Sepal Leaf-like structures that enclose the flower when it is still a bud.
Petal The colorful, leaf-like structure of some flowers.
Stamen The male reproductive parts.
Pistil The female reproductive parts.
Ovary A hollow structure that protects the seed as it develops.
