Terms - Sedimentary Rocks

| lithification | process(es) by which sediments are changed into solid rock |
| sedimentary rocks | form from the accumulation and consolidation of sediment |
| ripple marks | form when waves or currents gently move sediment across the surface |
| cross-bedding | bedding in which layers are deposited at angles to other layers |
| organic sedimentary rocks | bioclastics; form from the remains of living things |
| chemical sedimentary rocks | form from precipitation of sediment and evaporation of seawater |
| clastic sedimentary rocks | land-derived; form from the compaction and cementation of sediment |
| mud cracks | form on the surface of fine-grained sediment as it dries |
| fossil fuels | energy resources formed from the remains of plants and animals |
