Seasons

TermDefinition
Seasons one of the four periods of a year spring, summer, autumn, and winter
Rotation the act of circling around the an axis center
Revolution the movement of one object around another object
Ellipse a closed plane curved generated by a plant
Solstice when the sun reaches the highest (summer)or lowest (winter) point in the sky at noon, marked by the longest and shortest days
Equniox the time or day (twice a year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator , when day and night are equal length (about Sep. 22 and March 20)
Waxing the moon at any time after a new moon and before a full moon
Waning the moon at any time after full moon and before new moon
Gibbous a moon in between a half moon but less than a full moon
Cresent a moon that is a thin curved shape
Solar Eclipse an eclipse in which the sun is blocked by the moon
Lunar Eclipse an eclipse in which the moon appears in which the moon darkened as it passes into the earth shadow.
