Moment Magnitude Scale | more accutate as it measures the amount of enegry realease. |
Modified Mercalli Scale | roman numeral scale that measures the intensity created by a earthquake. |
liquefaction | where soil and rock are saturated in water. |
tsunami | a wave formed when the ocean floor shifts suddenly during s earthquake. |
seismic gap | an area along a fault where there has not been any earthquakes actuivity for a long period of time. |
crust | a thin, rocky outer layer of earth is divided into oceanic and contintal crust. |
mantle | a solid, rock shell that extends to a depth of 2890 kilometers. |
