Nebula A Cloud of Dust and from which stars are born
Neutron Star Dense core that is left after a supernova
Black Hole A place with a gravity so strong that not even light can escape
SuperNova An explosion of a high mass star
Protostar The earliest stage of a stars life before nuclear fusion begins
White Dwarf A small hot dim star that is the leftover center of an old star
Red Giant A large reddish star late in its life cycle
Luminosity The brightness of a star
HR Diagram A Graph that tells us about the Temperature and Brightness of stars.
Light Year The Distance Light Travels in One Year
Astronomy The study of moon stars and other objects in space
Red Shift Where wavelengths get longer and it moves away
Blue Shift Where wavelengths get shorter and it moves toward you
EM Spectrum All the frequencies and wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation
Density How compact something is
Volume The amount of space that an object takes up
Gravity A force that pulls you towards it
CMB Microwaves detected from the big bang
Wavelength The distance between two crests of a wife
Frequency How many wave crests pass a point in a given time
Energy Power from physical sources
Big Bang Theory The leading explanation on how the universe began
Temperature How hot something is
Absolute Magnitude The brightness a star would have if it were at a standard distance from earth
Apparent Magnitude How bright a star looks from earth
Main Sequence A diagonal spot on the H-R Diagram that includes more than 90% of stars including our sun.
Mass Defect The energy that is given off when Fusion happens
Universe All of Space and Everything in it.
Galaxy A Grouping of stars planets and dust bound together by gravity
Solar System Planets and objects that revolve around the sun
Star A Ball of hot gas (mostly hydrogen and helium) that undergoes nuclear fusion.
