Q2W6 Mountains Q

Mountains Quiz Prep

QuestionAnswer
How quickly do mountains form? Sllllloooowly. This is why the Lava mountain was sad for cuch a long time.
List 3 types of mountains folded, fault block, volcanic
What is deformation? When rock changes shape (it deforms)
What causes rocks to fold? Compression
Where are rock folds often found? near convergent boundaries
folded mountains are made out of the Earth's crust
How are fault block mountains made plates pulling apart, normal faults
Where are fault block mountains found? divergent boundaries
Which type of plate boundary involves plate moving toward each other? Convergent plate boundaries involve plates moving toward each other. When this occurs the plates will either collide or one will subduct under the other.
Which type of boundary involves plates pulling away from each other? Divergent boundaries involve plates pulling away from each other at spreading zones.
Which type of boundary involves plates sliding past each other? Transform fault boundaries occur where plates move past each other horizontally.
Which type of boundary is a constructive boundary? Divergent boundaries are constructive because new land is formed between the plates as they pull away from each other.
Which type of boundary is a destructive boundary? Convergent boundaries can be destructive when one plate plunges under the other at a subduction zone and is recycled into the mantle.
At which type of boundary will you find rift valleys and mid-ocean ridges. Divergent plate boundaries
At which type of boundaries will you most likely find mountain ranges? Convergent and divergent
Which type of mountain is most common at divergent plate boundaries? Fault-block mountains.
