| cell | basic unit of life |
| tissue | A group of similar cells that perform the same function. |
| organ | group of tissues that work together to perform closely related functions |
| organ system | group of organs that work together to perform a specific function |
| joint | A place in the body where two bones come together |
| skeleton | provides frame and structural support |
| ligament | connects bone to bone |
| tendon | connects muscle to bone |
| cartilage | flexible connective tissue attached to bones at joints |
| muscle | tissue composed of fibers that can contract, causing movement of an organ or part of the body |
| skeletal muscle | a muscle that is connected at either or both ends to a bone and so move parts of the skeleton |
| involuntary muscle | A muscle that is not under conscious control. |
| cardiac muscle | Muscle of the heart |
