Water Unit

Collection The water that is stored on earth in lakes, streams, rivers, ponds, and in the ground.
Evaporation the drying process when wet materials are exposed to air
Water vapor water in the gas state.
Precipitation water that falls from the sky as rain, sleet, snow, or hail.
Condensation When water vapor touches something cooler, it condenses and forms a cloud.
Transpiration When plants "sweat" and evaporate water through their leaves.
Is evaporation a cooling or warming process? cooling
How does temperature effect evaporation? The warmer it is, the faster water evaporates.
How does surface area effect evaporation? The larger the surface area, the faster water evaporates.
Surface Area The area of water that is touching the air.
What are the steps in order of the water cycle after water evaporates? Evaporation, Condensation, precipitation, collection
Which 2 things make water evaporate faster? warmer temperature and larger surface area
