Why does a solar eclipse happen? The moon passes between the sun and Earth so it blocks the sunlight from reaching the Earth's surface
How does a lunar eclipse happen? The Earth passes between the sun and the moon and casts a shadow on the moon.
Why does a lunar eclipse occur? The Earth passes between the sun and the moon so it blocks the sunlight from hitting the moon's surface.
What tool did Galileo use to see the moon more clearly in the early 1600s? A telescope
During which phase of the moon does a solar eclipse occur? The New Moon phase, because the moon is in front of the Earth.
What can occur during the Full Moon phase? A lunar eclipse because the moon is behind the Earth and can pass through Earth's shadow.

What does the term Waxing mean? It means that the amount of the moons surface that we can see is slowly growing larger (increasing.)
What does the term Waning mean? It means that the amount of the moons surface that we can see is slowly getting smaller (decreasing.)
Which one of the moons phases is the only one in which we cannot see the light reflecting from the moons surface? During the new moon.
Why do we experience seasons? Because the Earth is tilted and different portions of the Earth receive more direct sunlight during different parts of the year.
When it is winter in the northern hemisphere, what season is it in the southern hemisphere and why? In the southern hemisphere it is summer because the southern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun receiving direct sunlight but the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun and receives sunlight at an angle (indirect sunlight)
