| Alleles | Different forms of a trait that a gene may have. |
| Homozygous | An organism with two alleles that are the same. (purebred) |
| Heterozygous | An organism with two different alleles for a trait. (hybrid) |
| Phenotype | The physical appearance of an organism. |
| Genotype | The genes of an organism. The actual genetic makeup of an organism. |
| Dominant | A trait that dominates or covers up the other form of the trait |
| Recessive | A trait that is covered up by a dominate trait. |
| Punnett Square | A chart that shows all the possible combinations of alleles. |
| Heredity | The transfer of genetic information from parent to offspring. |
| Trait | A characteristic of an organism, can be genetic or acquired. |
| Chromosome | A single, highly organized and structured piece of DNA. |
| DNA | A double helix structure containing an individual's genetic code. |
| Gene | Small part of a chromosome that determines a specific trait for an organism. |
