WHAT IS A FOLK-SONG? A folk-song is a traditional song handed down from generations to generations.
WHAT IS AN ART SONG? Is a poem set to music for voice an instrumental accompaniment.
WHAT IS A BALLAD? A ballad is a simple song which tells a story.
WHAT IS A CANTOR? A cantor is a person who leads the singing in church.
WHAT IS PLAINCHANT? Plainchant is the oldest form of church music.
WHAT IS THE TERM SEQUENCE? Sequence is the repetition of a short line of melody at a higher or lower pitch.
WHAT IS AN OPERA? An opera is a play set to music where all parts are sung by singers accompanied by an orchestra.
WHAT IS A CHORALE? Is a traditional German hymn tune.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF MONOPHONIC? Is a single line of melody.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF SYLLABIC? It means one note per syllable.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF MELISMATIC? It means many notes per syllable.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF POLYPHONIC? Polyphonic is two or more melodies/voices at the same time.
WHAT IS A HOMOPHONIC MELODIE? Is a melodie with accompaniemend
