The Seasons

TermDefinition
Equinox the days of the year where everywhere on Earth gets 12 hours of daylight.
Summer Solstice The longest day of the year, when the Sun is highest in the sky. (the North Pole receives 24 hours of sunlight)
Winter Solstice The shortest day of the year, when the Sun is at its lowest point. (the North Pole goes 24 hours without sunlight)
Northern Hemisphere Part of Earth Above the equator
Southern Hemisphere Part of Earth Below the equator
Sunlight consists of multiple frequencies of radiation, Infrared, Visible and Ultraviolet.
The Ozone Layer a layer of gas in the upper atmosphere which absorbs 97-99% of UV light
melanin a chemical to protect against the Sun. It absorbs UV radiation and changes it into heat.
