The Seasons
| Term | Definition |

| Equinox | the days of the year where everywhere on Earth gets 12 hours of daylight. |
| Summer Solstice | The longest day of the year, when the Sun is highest in the sky. (the North Pole receives 24 hours of sunlight) |
| Winter Solstice | The shortest day of the year, when the Sun is at its lowest point. (the North Pole goes 24 hours without sunlight) |
| Northern Hemisphere | Part of Earth Above the equator |
| Southern Hemisphere | Part of Earth Below the equator |
| Sunlight | consists of multiple frequencies of radiation, Infrared, Visible and Ultraviolet. |
| The Ozone Layer | a layer of gas in the upper atmosphere which absorbs 97-99% of UV light |
| melanin | a chemical to protect against the Sun. It absorbs UV radiation and changes it into heat. |
