what is science??? science is a way of learning about the natural world science also incluedes all of the knowledge gained by exploring the natural world
observing means using oen or more of your sences to gather information
inferring inferring is when you explain or making an inferince, making an inferince dosnt mean guessing they are based on reasoning from what you already know
prediction means making a forcast of what will happen in the future based on th epast experience or evidence
classifying is the process of grouping together items that are alike in some way
making models involves creating representations of complex objects or process, models hepl people study and understand things that are complex or cant be observed directly
what is the scientific process??? refers to the diverse ways in which scientists study the natural world and propose explanations based on th eevidence the gather
communicating is the process of shareing ideas and informationwith other people
quantitative observations deal with a number or amount
qualitave observations deal with descriptions that can not be expressed in numbers
variables any factor that can be changed in a experiment the factor changing is called the mapulated variable
indapendent variables is the manipulative independent variable that causes change
dependent variable a variable dependent on another variable it si said to cause an apperent change in or simply affect it
control variable an experiment in which only one variable is manipulated at a time
osmosis is the net of movement fo water across a selsctive mambrane
deffusion the process by which molocules sread from areas fo high cansentration to areas of low concentration
