JCMS Literary Devices Touching Spirit Bear

QuestionAnswer
personification Figure of speech in which an author grants human characteristics to non-human objects.
simile A figure of speech that compares two like objects, using the words "like" or "as".
metaphor A suggested or implied comparison between two unlike objects.
symbolism person, objects, or events that represent ideas.
conflict struggle between opposing forces
irony a twist of fate or a situation that is the opposite of that which is expected
foreshadowing To present an indication or suggestion of beforehand.
