solids: -take up space -does not change (unless cut) -objects can't pass through it -has weight
liquids: -take up space -takes the shape of its container -objects can pass through it -has weight
all matter........... takes up space
volume...... describes the amount of space that an object takes up
mass........ describes the amount of actual matter in an object
physical changes appearance may change but no new substance is produced
chemical changes produce a new substance (change in color, smell, gas is produced....)
conductors carry heat easily. *metal, water.....
Insulators make it more difficult for heat to transfer *rubber, cloth......
heat is...,.... thermal energy
what's in an atom???? -protons=positively charged particle -electrons=negatively charged particle -neutron=particle without a charge
