Fossil Fuels A nonrenewable resource formed from the remains of prehistoric plants and animals (Coal, Oil, Natural Gas)
Weathering The wearing away of rocks by wind, water, or ice
Erosion The movement of sediment by wind, water, or ice
Deposition A process by which wind or water drops sediment in a new location
Sediment Small particles of rock, soil, sand, or shell deposited by water, wind, or ice
Sedimentary Rocks A type of rock formed when layers of sediment are pressed together and harden over time
Cementation Sticking together like glue
Compaction The pressing of sediments
Canyon A valley between steep cliff sides formed by running water, such as a river or stream
Delta Soil which is deposited at the mouth of a river, usually in a triangular shape
Glacier A large mass of slowly moving ice and snow that carves new features and deposits sediments
Landform A physical feature on Earth’s surface
Sand Dune A hill of sand created by the wind
V-Shaped Valley A low area of land between hills or mountains, typically with a river or stream flowing through it
U-Shaped Valley A low, rounded area of land between hills or mountains caused by glacial erosion
