strata In geology, a layer of rock
nonconformity An unconformity between sedimentary rock and either igneous or metamorphic rock
unconformity A surface of erosion that separates one layer of rock from another
paraconformity An unconformity for which there is no evidence, but geologists think should exist
angular unconformity an unconformity where the strata are tilted relative to each other
disconformity An unconformity between two layers of sedimentary rock.
Intrusion "Veins" of igneous rock that shoot right through several layers of sedimentary rock
dikes intrusions that run perpendicular to the strata
sill intrusions that run parallel to the strata
humus the decayed remains of once-living creatures
Lamination A layer of rock less then 1 centimeter thick
Laminae Many layers of lamination stacked together
Sediments Sand, silt, minerals, and other components of soil
Delta A typically fan shaped area where a river deposits it's sediments at it's mouth
