| Coefficient | a small whole number that appears in front of a formula in a balanced chemical equation |
| Electron Dot Diagram | A model of an atom in which each dot represents a valence electron |
| Ion | A particle that is electrically charged (positive or negative) |
| Ionic Bond | A chemical bond resulting from the attraction between oppositely charged ions |
| Law of Conservation of Mass | the law that states that energy cannot be created or destroyed but can be changed from one form to another |
| Metallic Bond | a bond formed by the attraction between positively charged metal ions and the electrons around them |
| Product | A substance produced in a chemical reaction |
| Reactant | A chemical substance that is present at the start of a chemical reaction |
| Valence Electron | The electrons that are on the outermost energy level of an atom and are involved in chemical reactions |
