Bacteria Single-celled organisms that lack a nucleus, and are prokaryotes.
Cytoplasm The thick fluid region of a cell inside the cell's membrane, or between the membrane and the nucleus.
Ribosome A small, grain-shaped organelle in the cytoplasm that produces proteins.
Flagellum A long, whiplike structure on bacteria that helps it to move.
Cellular Respiration The process that releases energy by breaking down glucose and food molecules in the presence of oxygen.
Binary Fission A form of asexual reproduction, a cell splits ad multiplies.
Conjugation A form of sexual reproduction, where a unicellular organism transfers some of it's genetic material to another unicellular organism.
Endospore A structure produced by prokaryotes, like bacteria, in an unfavorable conditions, a thick wall closes DNA around the cytoplasm.
Pasteurization The process of heating food to a temperature high enough to kill most harmful bacteria.
Decomposer An organism that gets energy by breaking down wastes and dead organisms, whom also makes raw materials into soil and water.
