TermDefinition
Matter anything that occupies space and has weight
Element is matter that is composed of atoms that have the same number positive charges in their nuclei
Atom is the smallest unit of an element with that element's chemical characteristics
Isotope a different form of the same atom
Ionic Bond is caused by a transfer of electrons between atoms
Covalent bond involves a sharing of electrons by the outer shells of atoms
Hydrogen Bond Illustrated by the weak attraction between water molecules
Electrolyte is a substance that forms ions when it is dissolved in water
Ion formation ions are formed when electrons in the outer shell are lost or gained
Molecule when two at more atoms bond
Compound a substance that contains molecules formed by two or more different atoms
Chemical Reaction is a process where the atoms of molecules or compounds interact to form new chemical reactions
