Weather

Weather Unit for Second Grade

TermDefinition
meteorologist A scientist who studies weather.
thermometer A tool used to measure the temperature.
temperature How warm or cold the air is.
anemometer A tool to measure wind speed.
wind vane A tool that is used to tell which direction the wind is blowing from.
cirrus Thin, feathery clouds high in the sky usually seen when it is sunny.
cumulus Puffy, white clouds seen in fair weather. They can bring thunderstorms.
stratus Low, gray clouds that stretch across the sky that usually bring rain or snow.
rain gauge A tool that measures the amount of rain that has fallen.
weather The condition of the air.
