The basic units of matter and the smallest unit of an element. Atom
Anything that has mass and takes up space. Matter
A subatomic particle without an electrical charge; often known as a neutral charge. Neutron
A subatomic particle with a negative charge.  Electron
The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom. It also determines an element's place on the Periodic Table of Elements Atomic Number

A pure substance that CANNOT be separated into a simpler substance by physical or chemical means. Element
