What is a mineral?
What scale is used to measure the hardness of a mineral?
What is an example of Igneous rock?
What is an example of Metamorphic rock?
What is an example of Sedimentary rock?
How do we classify rocks? Igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary.
How is an igneous rock formed? Magma cooling; can be intrusive or extrusive.
How is a metamorphic rock formed? Heat and pressure are put to any regular rock.
How is a sedimentary rock formed? Layers of sediment combine.
What is the rock cycle? A cycle of which rocks are formed. This cycle will never end, and repeats over and over again.
Luster How a mineral reflects light.
Hardness How hard a mineral is.
Transparency If the mineral is completely clear.
Translucent If you can kind of see through the mineral.
Opaque If you cannot see through the mineral.
Streak What color the powder makes when you scratch is across another mineral.
What is the word that describes the characteristics of rocks? Property.
Intrusive Igneous rock formed inside of the Earth.
Extrusive Igneous rock formed outside of the Earth.
Foilated Bands across metamorphic rocks.
Nonfoilated No bands across metamorphic rocks.
Mantle The place where magma/lava is located.
