Inside the Earth
| Term | Definition |

| Crust | The outermost layer of the earth. |
| Oceanic Crust | The denser crust with twice as much iron, calcium, and magnesium. It is also thinner. |
| Continental Crust | The thicker crust that is more dense. |
| Mantle | The layer of the Earth between the crust and the core. |
| Lithosphere | The solid, outer layer of the earth that consists of the crust and the rigid upper part of the mantle. |
| Asthenosphere | The soft layer of the the mantle on which the tectonic plates move. |
| Mesosphere | The strong, lower part of the mantle between the asthenosphere and the outer core. |
| Inner Core | The solid, dense center of our planet that extends from the bottom of the outer core to the center of the Earth, which is about 6,380 km the surface. |
| Outer Core | The liquid layer of the earths core layer that lies beneath the mantle and the crust. |
| Core | The layer of the Earth that extends from below the mantle to the center of the Earths core. |
