TermDefinition
Action The effect the drug has on the body. Therapeutic effect is a positive outcome
Administration The route and form which the drug was given
Contraindications Situations in which a medication should not be used (nitroglycerin should not be used on patients with low BP
Dose The amount of medications that is given to the patient
Drug A chemical substance that is used to treat or prevent a disease or a condition
Form The size, shape, consistency or appearance of the medication
Indications The common reason for using a drug to treat a specific condition
Medications A drug or other substance that is used as a remedy for illness
Meter-dose inhaler Device consisting of medication so the patient can breathe it
Pharmacology Study of drug
Route The means by which a medication is given or taken
Side Effects The undesired effect of medication
Small-volume nebulizer Turns medication into a gas so patient can inhale it
