Matter and Mixtures

pure substances and mixtures---------Heterogeneous and Homogeneous mixtures

what is matter? Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space
what is the particle theory? the particle theory is about matter and how there is many different particles that are always moving inside every type of matter
what are the 5 main ideas of the particle theory? 1. particles have spaces in between them 2. all matter is made out of tiny particles 3. the particles are always moving 4. they move faster and spread farther apart when heated 5. they attract each other
what is the difference between a solid, liquid and gas? a solid has a definite shape and volume and a liquid only has a definite volume a gas has neither one of those forms
what is chemistry? Chemistry is the study of matter and its changes
what is the difference between a pure substance and a mixture? the difference is that a pure substance made from 1 kind of particle and a mixture is 2 or more particles
what is the difference between tap water and distilled water? tap water is made from water particles but has other chemicals mixed in with it and distilled water is only water particles
what is the difference between a mechanical mixture and a solution? a heterogeneous mixture is when you can see all of the different types of particles mixed together and a homogeneous mixture looks like a pure substance
list a couple of mixtures that are solids, liquids and gases! steel, glass, fabric pop, paint, juices air, smoke, steam
what is the salute? when a solution dissolves, it then becomes the salute
what is the solvent ? you get the solvent when the salute dissolves and it can be a solid, liquid or gaseous state
what is the solubility?
