| Cellular Respiration | The breaking down of food to yield energy |
| Climax Community | A community that is stable |
| Consumer | Gets energy by eating other organisms |
| Decomposer | Get food by breaking down dead organisms |
| Ecological Succession | Gradual change of species in an environment |
| Food Chain | Energy is transferred from one organism to another |
| Food Web | Shows feeding relationships in an ecosystem |
| Nitrogen Cycle | Nitrogen gets cycled through the atmosphere, bacteria, etc. |
| Nitrogen Fixation | When bacteria can fix atmospheric nitrogen into chemical compounds |
| Phosphorous Cycle | The movement of phosphorus from the environment to an organism back to the environment |
| Photosynthesis | Plants using sunlight to make their own food |
| Pioneer Species | First organisms to colonize in a new area |
| Primary Succession | An area where no ecosystem has been before |
| Producer | Organism that makes its own food |
| Secondary Succession | Where an ecosystem already was then another came and thrived in that area |
