| Artificial satellites | Satellites placed into orbit by humans |
| Asteroid | An irregular rocky object in orbit around the Sun between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. |
| Asteroid belt | A group of rocks that orbit the Sun in a band between Mars and Jupiter. |
| Comet | A ball of ice, dust and rock that orbits the Sun in a highly elliptical orbit. |
| Gas giants | The large planets of the outer solar system: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. |
| Meteor | A meteoroid that enters the Earth's atmosphere, usually creating a blue streak as it burns up: a shooting star. |
| Meteorite | A meteor big enough for a part of it to fall on the ground. |
| Meteoroid | A small particle or body of rock that orbits the Sun near the Earth's orbit. |
| Milky Way | The galaxy in which the solar system is located. |
| Phases | Different shapes of the moon as seen from Earth. |
| Solar system | The Sun and all the planets, satellites, comets and other bodies revolving around it. |
| Terrestrial | Earth-like, rocky. The four terrestrial planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. |
