Cells Science test for grade 8

QuestionAnswer
List all the parts of the microscope Tube,Eyepiece, arm, base,Fine adjustment knob, coarse adjustment knob, stage, lamp, stage clips, diaphragm, objective lenses(small, medium, large)
What are the 3 main parts of the cell theory? 1.All organisms are made out of one or more cells2.The cell is the basic unit of all living thing3.All cells come from previous exciting cells
Why is the Nucleuas important in a cell? It contains the genetic material, the DNA,which is responsible for controlling and directing all the activities of the cell.
How are plant cells unique and different from animal cells? Plant cells are surrounded by a cell wall and animal cells are not surrounded by cell wall they are surrounded by a cell membrane.
Name the three lenses and what their magnification is. Scanning lens: 4x magnification.Low power objective lens:10x,High power objective lens:40x
What is a living thing? Are known in science as organisms.
What are the six characteristics of all living things? 1.Made of cells 2.Require energy 3. Grow and develop 4. Respond to the environment 5.Reproduce 6.Have adaptations for their environment.(All these six characteristics apply to all of the 1.75 million different species of organisms on Earth.)
How do animals and plants get energy? Animals get energy in the form of food and plants get energy in the form of light which plants convert into sugar and oxygen.
What is the Cellular Respiration? Is the process where organisms break down food in the presence of oxygen to produce water, carbon dioxide, and energy.
What are the parts of a plant cell? endoplasmic reticulum,Galgi apparatus,mitochondra,vacuole,cytoplam,chloroplasts/photosynthenis,ribosomes,cell membrane, cell wall, nucleus
What are the parts of an animal cell? cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes, gold apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochandria, nucleus, vacuoles, lysasmes.
What does the endoplasmic reticulum do in the plant and animal cells? in both cells its a folded organelle that makes proteins.
What does the Golgi Apparatus do in the plant cells and animal cells? In both cells its a folded organelle that combines proteins made by the endoplasmic reticulum and delivers them to the rest of the cell and the outside of the cell.
What is the mitochondria in the plant cells? In the plant cell its the powerhouse of the cell.there organelle break down food particles and release their stored energy. The cells uses this energy to fuel all of its activities.
What is the mitochondria in an animal cells? its the same as the plant cell but the number of mitochondria varies according to the function of the cell.
What is the vacuole in the plant cell? A large sac-likke organelle that stores excess food, waste, and other substances, each vacuole is surrounded by a membrane.
What is the vacuole do in an animal cell? A large sac-like organelle that stores excess food, waste and the substances.Animal cells have several small vacuoles.
What is the cytoplasm in the plant cells and animal cells? in both cells its a Jelly-like material that fill the cells and surrounds the organelles.food and oxygen move through the cytoplasm to the organisms.
What is the chloroplasts in a plant cell? membrane-bound organelles that contain a green substance(pigment) called chlorophyll,In a process called photosynthesis, chlorophyll uses the suns energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugar(food) and oxygen.
What is the chloroplasts in an animal cell? chloroplasts are not found in animal cells.
What is the nucleus in a plant cell and animal cell? A large organelle that is easy to see under magnification it controls the activities of the cell such as growth.
What is the cell wall in a plant cell? The rigid structure that surrounds the cell membrane.it all provides the cell with strength and support.Materials in and out of the cell through pores in the cell wall.
What is the cell wall in a animal cell? The animal cell doesn't have a cell wall.
What is the cell membrane in the plant cell? The thin covering that holds the cytoplasm and the organelles inside the cell and controls the passage of materials i or out of the cell
What is the cell membrane in an animal cell? The thin covering that surrounds the organelles inside the cell and controls the passes of materials in or out of the cell. The cell membrane is the outer boundary of an animal.
What is the ribosomes in a plant cell? Tiny organelles that help make proteins. There are many of these organelles in the cytoplasm.
What is a ribosomes in an animal cell? Tiny organelles that help make proteins. There are many of these organelles in the cytoplasm.
What is the lysosomes is a plant cell? A plant cell doesn't have a lysosomes.
What is the lysosomes in an animal cell? These organelles break down food and digest wastes.
