Precambrian Era The first Era in earths. Began with the creation of the Earth 4.6billion years ago. simple life forms, oceans form. no hard skeletons (jellyfish and sea-worms)
Paleozoic Era Early land plants and invertebrates; then fish, arachnids. insects, and ferns. Later amphibians, and reptiles. mass extinction of the marine invertebrates at the end of the Era
Mesozoic Era Retiles are the dominant animal, including dinosaurs. Small mammals and flowering plants appear at the end of the era. Mass extinction of dinosaurs at the end of the era
Cenozoic Era Mammals are the dominant species Diversity of life increases. Flowering plants are most common. Modern humans appear near the end of the era
Mass extinction a widespread and rapid decrease in the biodiversity on earth. an event identified as a sharp sharp in the Diversity and abundance of multicellular organisms
