systeme internationa; decimal system of weights and measures derived from and extending the metric system of units.
unit---meter gram, liter The metric system is based on joining one of a series of prefixes, including kilo-, hecto-, deka-, deci-, centi-, and milli.
length the measurement or extent of something from end to end; the greater of two or the greatest of three dimensions of a body.
prefix a word, letter, or number placed before another.
volume the amount of space that a substance or object occupies, or that is enclosed within a container, especially when great.
weight//mass Mass is a measurement of the amount of matter something contains, while Weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object.
micron One thousandth of a millimeter.
