Circulatory system (function) Carries mainly oxygen and nutrients around the body
Valve flaps of connective tissue that keep blood flowing in the right direction
Artery Large vessels that carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body
Vein Carry blood to the heart
Capilliaries Thin blood vessels
Vena Cava bring oxygen-poor blood from the body to the heart
Pulmonary Veins Bring oxygen rich blood from the lungs to the left atrium
Aorta The main artery leaving the left ventricle carrying oxygenated blood to the body.
Pulmonary artery The large blood vessel taking deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs.
Septum wall Separates the ventricles
Ventricles Lower chambers of the heart
Atriums Upper chambers of the heart
