| chemical sedimentary rocks | sedimentary rock that is formed when dissolved minerals come out of a solution |
| clastic sedimentary rocks | formed from weathered sediments that have been cemented together. |
| extrusive rocks | igneous rocks that are formed from cooling lava |
| intrusive rocks | igneous rocks that are formed from cooling magma |
| foliated rocks | metamorphic rocks that have mineral grains that line up in parallel layers |
| granitic rocks | light colored igneous rock that have a low density and high silica |
| igneous rock | forms when molten rock cools and hardens |
| metamorphic rocks | rocks that have changed due to intense heat and pressure |
| organic sedimentary rocks | rocks that are made up of once- living things |
| rock | made up of two or more minerals |
| rock cycle | used to explain the endless cycle of change that rock undergoes as they change from one type to another |
