TermDefinition
Mass The quantity of matter as determined from its weight
Volume The amount of space, measured in cubic units, that an object or substance occupies
Temperature A measure of the warmth or coldness of an object or substance with reference to some standard value
Density Mass per unit volume (g/mL)
Matter The substances or substance of which any physical object consists or is composed; something that occupies space; a particular kind of substance
Gram A metric unit of mass or weight equal to 15.432 grains; one thousandth of a kilogram (g)
Liter A unit of capacity (l)
Meter The fundamental unit of length in the metric system. 100 cm (m)
Relative Density The ratio of the density (mass of a unit volume) of a substance to the density of a given reference material.
Metric System A decimal system of weights and measures based on the meter, liter, and gram as units of length, capacity, and weight or mass. Unit labels are kilo, hecto, deka, deci, centi, and milli
Kilo A metric system unit of measurement. It is a combining form meaning thousand.
Centi A combining form meaning hundredth or hundered using in the formation of compound words
Milli A combining form meaning thousand in the metric system used in the names of units equal to one thousandth of the given base unit
