Heredity Vocabulary and Key Concepts

QuestionAnswer
Fossils Remains of once living organisms that provide evidence of life forms changing over time due to environmental conditions including catastrophic events.
Genetic Traits Inherited traits between parents and their young; easily recognized, like curly hair or eye color.
Adaptation Genetically based traits that develop at the population level due to genetic variation and natural selection.
Inherited Traits Traits developed from the genetic instructions passed along from parent to offspring.
Acquired Traits Traits that are a consequence of an organism's experiences and are not part of their genetic makeup.
