Gr.5 Animal Systems

Specialized systems performing functions serving the needs of an organism

Digestive System Purpose is to breakdown food into small particles that can be carried in the blood to all parts of the animal for energy.
Respiratory System Purpose is to bring oxygen into the blood and to remove waste products (or carbon dioxide) from the blood.
Skeletal System Purpose is to provide support and structure for the animal.
Muscular System Purpose is to provide movement and form for the animal.
Nervous System Purpose is to serve as an internal communication system between the brain and all other parts of the body.
Excretory System Purpose is to remove wastes from the body of the animal.
Reproductive System Purpose is to create offspring for the continuation of species.
Circulatory System Purpose is to carry food and oxygen to all parts of the body and to remove waste products from all parts of the body.
