organism An individual living thing.
bio-sphere The part of earth that contains an ecosystem.
community All populations that live together in an area.
molecule A group of atoms.
tissue A group of cells.
cell The smallest function of life.
population A group of organisms of one type that live in the same area.
ecosystem Living and non-living
nocturnal night time
transfer The passing on of energy
food chains They show who is being eaten by another organism
producer An organism that makes it's own food from sunlight.
habitat Where an organism lives.
predator An organism that hunts another organism.
consumer An organism that needs to eat other organisms for energy.
food web It shows the feeding relationships (among many organism) in an ecosystem.
prey An organism that is eaten by another organism.
trophic level Steps in a food chain or food web
set point Normal state
stimulus Something that causes a reaction
abiotic Non-living
biotic Living
responding variable The variable (thing) that is observed
controlled experiment An experiment where only one thing changes
hypothesis An explanation that can be tested
variables Something that changes
manipulated variable The variable (thing) that "I" change.
negative feedback loop A stimulus (reaction) that causes an opposite output to maintain a stable level.
control The part of the experiment that remains the same.
covalent bond Sharing electrons
ionic bond Formed when electrons are transferred
compound Two or more elements
