The Earths Core

| crust | thin, solid, outermost zone of the Earth |
| mantle | the layer that underlies the crust and is denser than the crust |
| lithosphere | rigid layer 15-300km thick |
| Athenosphere | less ridged, 200-250km thick. |
| mesosphere | layer of solid mantle rock |
| Core | the center of the Earth, made out of iron and nickel |
| outer core | liquid |
| inner core | solid |
| mass | the amount of matter in an object or substance |
| volume | the amount of space an object or substance takes up |
| matter | anything that has mass and takes up space |
| energy | the ability to do work and cause changes |
| oblate spheroid | slightly flattened sphere |
| seismic waves | vibrations that travel through Earth |
| magnetosphere | Earth's magnetic field |
| gravity | the force of attraction that exists between all matter in the universe |
