Celestial Bodies

Star | A mass of gas that emits heat and light through nuclear reactions |
Nebula | A large cloud of gas and dust where stars are formed |
Galaxy | A large grouping of stars held together by gravity |
Celestial body | Any object located in space |
Supernova | The death of a large star by explosion |
Black Hole | The remains of a massive star with gravity so strong that even light cannot escape |
Milky Way Galaxy | The name of the spiral or disk-shaped galaxy in which our solar system is located |
Gravity | The force that causes objects with mass to attract one another |
Sun | The medium main-sequence star around which Earth revolves |
Emit | To give off, release or produce |
Moon | A celestial body that orbits a planet |
Planet | A celestial body that orbits a star |
Asteroid | A celestial body made of rock and metal that is typically found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter |
Comet | An icy celestial body that displays a coma (or a tail) as it passes by the heat of the Sun |
Metor | Small celestial body that burns up as it passes through Earth's atmosphere |
Galaxy cluster | A group of galaxies bound together by gravity |
Solar System | A collection of celestial bodies such as planets, moons, meteors, asteroids and comets that orbit a star |
