hurricane Highly organized tropical storm with winds over 74 mph
thunderstorm A storm with thunder, lightening, strong wind, heavy rain and sometimes hail and tornadoes
supercell The largest, strongest most dangerous form of thunderstorm. They have strong rotation and can produce tornadoes, hail and dangerous bursts of wind
tornado A violently spinning column of air extending down from a thunderstorm to the ground
lightning An awesome electrical discharge that makes the air stable again
hail Precipitation as lumps of ice 0.2 - 2 inches in diameter
blizzard A severe snowstorm with strong winds, heavy snow and low visibility
drought Extended period of below normal precipitation
flood Greater than normal rainfall
runoff Rain that is not absorbed by the ground and flows into low-lying areas which can cause floods

climate The average weather conditions in an area over a period of years
air pressure Force exerted by air in every direction
wind The perceptible movement of air from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure
