termdefinition
variable anything that can affect an experiment or outcome
one number of variables that can be tested at a time
scientific method steps to answer a scientific question
independent variable the variable changed by the experimenter to observe the results
dependent variable the variable that is measured
control group group that is not tested ,but used only to compare
experimental group the group that is tested/experimented on
quantitive data is numerical, like time, number of, or mass

theory an idea with that has a lot of data to support it, but it's not a proven fact
law a stament bases on repeated experimental observations, observed in nature

model tools for representing ideas and explanations, can be diagrams, drawing, physical replicas, mathematical representations, or simulations
phenomenon a fact or situation that is observed to exist or happen, especially one whose case or explanation is in question
