8 Science vocab for Test 1

QuestionAnswer
Qualitative Observation Data using characteristics or qualities
Quantitative Observation Data using quantities or numbers.
Inference An educated guess from the evidence of an experiment.
Hypothesis An educated guess
Independent Variable is the part of the experiment that is being tested or the part that is being changed by the scientist.
Dependent Variable The part of the experiment that is affected by the independent variable. It is what is being measured.
Control Group The part of an experiment that is not being tested and is used for comparison. The "normal" situation.
Constant is the one or many things, in an experiment that DOES NOT change.
Results The ending of an experiment. The outcome.
Conclusion What the scientist writes at the end of an experiment which summarizes the experiment and the results.
Problem The 1st step of the Scientific Method.
Procedure The steps you use during an experiment.
