Earth the third planet from the Sun that has life on it
Sun the star at the center of our solar system that supplies heat and light to Earth
moon Earth's natural satellite that orbits around Earth
satellite a smaller object in space that orbits around a larger object
axis an imaginary line around which an object spins/turns (rotates)
tilt to slant or lean to one side; not upright
gravity a force that PULLS objects toward the center of the Earth
rotate (rotation) to SPIN on an axis
day/night the time Earth faces the Sun and it lit; and then faces away from the Sun and is dark. ( total time = 24 hours)
orbit the PATH one object takes as it revolves around another object in space.
sundial a type of clock that measures the time of day using the position of the Sun and shadows
apparent clear to understanding; appearing to be true or real
planet a heavenly body that travels in an orbit around the Sun
sunrise the time when the sun appears above the horizon as a result of the Earth's rotation
sunset the time when the sun disappears below the horizon as a result of the Earth's rotation
year the length of time a planet takes to make one orbit around the Sun
revolve (revolution) one orbit of an object in space around another object in space Ex. Earth revolves around the Sun.
