| Term | Definition |

| Dissolve | When substances form a solution (ex. Sugar forming a solution with water making sugar water) |
| Maintain | To retain or keep properties |
| Mixture | A combination of two or more substances which maintain their own physical properties (ex. salad, sand & salt, iron filings & rice) |
| Soluble | The ability to be dissolved (ex. sugar is soluble in water but ground pepper is not soluble in water) |
| Solution | A mixture in which one substance dissolves in another (ex. Kool-Aid, tea, salt water) |
| Classify | To arrange in groups or categories according to certain standards |
| Relative Density | Whether an object sinks or floats |
